Filling the space

There really is so much to do to make a house a home. Every day I try to get 1 thing done and I feel like I am getting closer to my dream, but still a long way to go.

Unpacking is a timely process. To anyone building a house, the main advise is remember LOTS of cupboards - storage, storage, storage! Granted I have heaps of stuff, but unless I want most of my stuff to be packed in the garage, I need to buy extra shelving etc to accommodate everything. One of my upgrades was to double the Linen cupboard - one of the best investments, especially as it isn't very deep, so its good to have the double length. I would also recommend getting a second shelf for all robes (including any walk in) because there is a wasted space to the ceiling which could be utilised.

The main living areas are looking organised, but still lots to do to get them perfect - waiting on wallpaper & installation of better lighting fixtures. Driveway is almost done. Have had some problems trying to seal it correctly with all the rain we have had. Decking being done this weekend - this will be a God sent because of the mess all this clay is creating!!

Here are a couple of pics of the interior:

Kitchen now with correct splashback.
Still to come: Pendant lighting over island bench & bar stools (next week)

Lounge/dinning room
Still to come: New lounge suite (new week), Rugs, Pendant light over the dinning table and curtains (still not sure what I want to do)

Master Bedroom
Still to come: Padded wall panelling & bedhead. Curtain needs to be raised too!

Master Bedroom Ensuite

Still to come: Wallpaper on this wall and then round mirror above the console table.

Completed!

I am a home owner! Who would have thought it. Settlement on Friday went really smoothly and I began the process of moving in that night. What a huge job; needless to say, that I am exhausted after the weekend.

I will write a more detailed entry during the week, but as a summary - I love it! I am very happy with the end product & quality of most of the work. I felt I had to push a little at the end, but overall the whole experience was relatively painless.

The driveway was dug out Saturday morning and ready to pour next weekend. This is just one of many things now needed to be organised. Fencing, wallpaper, landscaping, decking etc etc.

Pictures soon.
